- Kinda funny one this week
- I was asked to inspect a carpet, all the way down in Albany.
- Rental property, recently relet and the owner inspected between tenancies.!
- According to them, it looked terrible “it’s faulty” they cried, “Only 6 months old and it’s shocking near the window, the sun has affected it!!”
- So, off I go for a 800km round trip.
- When I get there, sure enough, it looks pretty ordinary.. until I open the blinds and realise it’s just a shadow cast by the windowsill!! And changing the angle of the venetians changed the intensity and position of the discolouration!
- Yes, just a trick of the light! An expensive one at that and a very embarrassed owner!
- As the saying goes, the eye is easily fooled!
Moral of the story, not all apparent soiling is actually real!!
