- Yesterday was a good one!
- Cleaning a carpet in an East Perth apartment, young lady informs me that there are some “funny marks” on the carpet after her younger sister had tried to fix some drink spills on the wool carpet.
- Looking at the marks, I could see colour loss and an orange-brown halo – warning lights started flashing!
When asked what she’d used – a supermarket detergent was the reply. Quite obviously one not suitable for wool or simply “Oxy-powered” as many of them are.
Upon informing them of the issue, I was then told, “Well I went online and found out the right way fix them with bicarb! I know I’m right because I saw lots of pictures and videos!!”
I’m sure she did, but only on synthetic carpets.
And then she got a cheap and nasty carpet cleaner in, even though Big Sister had told her to use me – but she didn’t want to pay my price!
A quick chemistry lesson later, and there was the sheepish question – “How much to fix it?”
$800-$1000 was the price
Calling me in the first in the first place, probably $250 max!
- Seemed like a good idea to DIY and save money… but has ended up a very costly exercise!
